
The Nigerian Military has recorded tremendous success in the ongoing operations against oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and associated crimes in the Niger Delta Region.
A press release made available to newsmen in Abuja on Sunday by Lt. Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, the Acting Deputy Director, 6 Division, Army Public Relations, confirmed that between June 9 and 29, 2025, troops, in collaboration with other security agencies, achieved several feats.
Col. Danjuma stated that troops had deactivated 23 illegal refining sites, arrested 46 suspected oil thieves and associated criminals, and recovered over 30,000 litres of stolen products.
According to him, in Bayelsa State, troops destroyed nine big pots, 16 drum pots, and recovered over 6,000 litres of stolen crude.
Also, in Rivers State, six illegal refining sites were uncovered, and over 5,000 litres of stolen crude were confiscated.
In Abia and Rivers States, clearance operations led to the destruction of six illegal refining sites and recovery of over 2,000 litres of crude oil.

He said in Akwa Ibom State, troops raided a warehouse and recovered 131 nylon bags filled with over 3,930 litres of stolen products.
“The military’s ongoing operations aim to deny criminal elements freedom of action and protect the nation’s oil infrastructure.
“The successes recorded demonstrate the effectiveness of the crackdown, and efforts will continue to ensure the security of the Niger Delta Region,” he added.
