The Executive Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Anthony Nyong called on the people of Nsit Atai to continue to promote peaceful coexistence, unity and responsible citizenship.
The chairman stated this as he led council officials and residents of the Local Government Area to commemorate Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary at the Council Headquarters, Odot, on Thursday.
The celebration, held in a low-key manner, featured a match-past by primary and secondary schools, members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), and various groups within the local government area.

Hon. Nyong, who read the Independence Day address of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, stressed on the importance of peace and unity, saying that no development can take place in atmosphere of chaos and disorder.
The Chairman urged residents to remain committed to maintaining peace and stability in their communities, stressing that the development of the country requires the collective efforts and contributions of its citizens.
He thanked the people of Nsit Atai for their continued support for the country and called for sustained commitment to peace, unity and national development.

The event also featured the cutting of the Independence Day Cake, while certificates and prizes were presented to schools that emerged first, second and third in the match-past competition.
The celebration brought together government officials, schoolchildren, NYSC members, community groups and residents to mark the nation’s 66th year of independence.
