The Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) and the Natural Oilfield Services Limited (NOSL) Joint Project Management Team, operators of the OML 13 project, Eastern Obolo LGA, have renovated and donated a public health center to the people of Iko Town, their major host community, as part of their co-operate social responsibility (CSR).
Doing the presentation, a representative of the project management team, Group Capt. Ekpo (Rtd) from NOSL thanked the people of Iko Town for their hospitality and co-operation and for making the environment conducive for their operations.
Ekpo opined that the facility has the capacity to cater for both outpatient and inpatient needs, as well as a functional operation theatre and delivery room, and appealed to the people to take maximum advantage of the facility for their health needs.

The chairman of the occasion, Dr. Martin Akpan, who is also the chairman of the Akwa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency thanked the investors for their concern for the wellbeing of their host.
Dr. Akpan reminded the NPDC-NOSL Team that it is not enough to rehabilitate the physical structure without paying attention to the equipment that make for effective and functional healthcare delivery.
He implored the organization to ensure that the basic infrastructure needed for effective healthcare delivery at the Primary Healthcare level should immediately be put in place.
In his remarks, the village Head of Iko Town and Clan Head of Iko, High Highness, Chief Capt. Isaiah T. Okonko (Rtd.) expressed gratitude to NPDC and NOSL management for renovating the Health Centre which was almost in ruins.
Chief Okonko, however, appealed to the investors to go a step further by changing the aging furniture in the center, which includes: dilapidated doors, cupboards, tables, chairs, shelves and the mattresses which have been eaten up by rodents.

He further pledged the continuous support of the community to oil firm to ensure a hitch free operation in the area.
The Hon. Commissioner for Health, Prof. Augustine Umoh, who was the special guest of honour at the occasion, seized the privilege to enlighten the populace on the rising third wave of Covid-19, advising strict adherence to Covid-19 Protocols, stating that the Delta Variant is more deadly and sometimes could be asymptomatic.
The health Commissioner then went ahead to commission the project encouraging the people of the community to take advantage of the facility for their health needs.
A brand new Ambulance donated to the community by the NPDC-NSOL Team was also unveiled and commissioned by the Honourable Commissioner.
