Nsit Atai Chairman Congratulates St. Pius X Catholic Church On 40th Anniversary
The Executive Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Anthony Nyong, has congratulated the clergy and parishioners of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Ikot Itie Udung, Nsit Atai Local Government Area, on the historic occasion of the parish’s 40th anniversary.
The Chairman conveyed the congratulatory message on Sunday, August 30, 2026, during the anniversary thanksgiving Mass held at the church, which also featured the dedication of the church sanctuary and the commissioning of completed parish projects by the Catholic Bishop of Uyo Diocese, Most Rev. Dr John Ebebe Ayah.
Hon. Nyong described the 40-year milestone as a testament to the parish’s enduring faith, resilience and commitment to spiritual growth, noting that the church had remained a significant institution in the community over the years.
He observed that the Catholic Church has continued to serve as a pillar of hope and a progressive partner in social development through its contributions to education, healthcare, humanitarian services and the moral development of the people.
“For four decades, this parish has not only fed the flock spiritually but has also been at the forefront of providing quality education, healthcare and humanitarian support to our people,” Hon. Nyong stated.
The Council Chairman urged the congregation to remain steadfast in prayer for peace, unity and economic prosperity in Nsit Atai, assuring them that his administration would continue to foster an environment where religious institutions can thrive and contribute meaningfully to the development of the local government area.
In support of the church’s ongoing development efforts, Hon. Nyong donated the sum of ₦1 million towards the completion of the parish’s ongoing projects.
The Chairman also commended the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Stanislaus Umohandikan, for his leadership and commitment to the growth and transformation of the church. He particularly acknowledged the rebuilding of the church sanctuary into a modern structure with distinctive architectural features, as well as the construction of the church’s main gate and education centre.
Hon. Nyong said his administration would continue to partner with the church and other faith-based institutions in promoting peace, unity and sustainable development across Nsit Atai Local Government Area.
In his remarks, Most Rev. Dr John Ebebe Ayah, who officiated at the anniversary celebration, appreciated Hon. Nyong for his continued support of the church and for identifying with its activities whenever called upon.
He prayed for the Chairman and his administration, asking God to grant him wisdom, strength and divine guidance to govern the local government effectively and continue to serve the people with dedication.
