Nsit Atai Chairman Presents N12.308BN Budget Of Transformation

The Executive Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Anthony Nyong, on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, presented a ₦12.308 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill, tagged the “Budget of Transformation”, to the Nsit Atai Legislative Council for consideration and passage.

Presenting the budget before lawmakers at the legislative chamber, Hon. Nyong said the proposal reflects his administration’s commitment to economic growth, improved service delivery, and sustainable development across the local government. He described the annual budget presentation as a critical governance responsibility and thanked the council for maintaining peace and maturity in legislative affairs.

The chairman reviewed the performance of the 2025 fiscal year, stating that the approved budget stood at ₦5.894 billion. He disclosed that as of June 31, 2025, actual revenue received from statutory allocation and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) amounted to ₦941.3 million, comprising ₦934.2 million from the Federation Account and ₦7.13 million from IGR.

Hon. Nyong explained that the 2026 budget proposal is largely funded through statutory allocation, noting that the council is still developing its economic base and revenue-generating capacity, expressing optimism that revenue performance would improve with time.

He said the proposed ₦12.308 billion budget represents a 64.1 percent increase over the 2025 budget of ₦5.894 billion, in line with approved local government budgeting benchmarks. Of the total budget size, ₦4.086 billion is allocated to recurrent expenditure, while ₦8.222 billion is earmarked for capital receipts and projects.

A breakdown of recurrent expenditure shows that ₦2.261 billion is provided for personnel costs, ₦1.275 billion for overheads, and ₦550 million for pensions, gratuities, stipends for traditional rulers, and other administrative obligations.

On capital expenditure, the chairman disclosed that the Administrative Sector received the largest allocation of ₦4.455 billion, while the Social Sector was allocated ₦1.898 billion and the Economic Sector ₦1.868 billion, reflecting the administration’s focus on governance efficiency, social development, and economic growth.

In his concluding remarks, Hon. Nyong assured the Legislative Council and residents of Nsit Atai of his commitment to diligent service, stating that the sectoral details of projects to be executed are contained in the appropriation bill. He formally laid the 2026 NGF, COA, and IPSAS proposed estimates before the council and appealed for their speedy consideration and passage.

Responding, the Leader of the 8th Nsit Atai Legislative Council, Hon. Ubong Udoeyo, commended the chairman for fulfilling his constitutional responsibility by presenting the appropriation bill in good time.

He assured that the legislative arm would give the budget speedy consideration and pledged effective oversight to ensure full implementation of the budget when passed into law.
