Nsit Atai Chairman Reiterates Commitment to Programmes, Policies for women and girl-Child Rights, Dignity and Empowerment

...Joins Gov Eno To Welcome Nigeria's First Lady At 2026 IWD Celebration

The Executive Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Anthony Nyong, has reiterated his administration’s resolve to promote programmes and policies that uphold the rights, dignity and empowerment of women and girls across Nsit Atai Local Government Area.

The chairman stated this as he joined the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, to receive the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, during the 2026 International Women’s Day celebration held at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

The event brought together women leaders, stakeholders and participants from across the state and beyond to commemorate this year’s International Women’s Day with the theme “Rights. Justice. Action for All Women and Girls.”

Also in attendance were the President of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, GCON; Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Akon Eyakenyi, the Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Akwa Ibom State, Noble Lady Helen Obareki, and the Hon. Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaam Sulaiman-Ibrahim, alongside other notable women leaders and stakeholders committed to advancing the cause of women in governance and national development.

Hon. Nyong was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Emem Nyong, and a delegation of women from Nsit Atai Local Government Area, whose participation highlighted the local government’s commitment to grassroots women’s mobilisation and empowerment in line with the ARISE Agenda of the Akwa Ibom State Government and the Renewed Hope Initiative of the Federal Government.

He stressed that women have invaluable responsibilities in society and, as such, deserve to be accorded their pride of place, not just as homemakers but as essential contributors to national development, security, and governance.
