Nsit Atai Chairman Urges Ibibio Group To Promote Unity, Support Gov. Eno
The Executive Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Anthony Nyong, has charged members of Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio, Nsit Atai Chapter, to promote unity of purpose, discipline and collective responsibility for the advancement of the Ibibio people.
Hon. Nyong gave the charge when the leadership and members of the socio-cultural organisation paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the Nsit Atai Local Government Council Secretariat, Odot, on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
The Chairman described the Ibibio people as one of the largest ethnic groups in Nigeria, stressing that their strength and progress lie in their ability to remain united and work towards common goals.
He urged members of Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio to be their brothers’ keepers by promoting mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and collective progress among Ibibio sons and daughters.
Hon. Nyong emphasised the importance of the organisation in preserving the cultural heritage and promoting the interests of the Ibibio people, urging members to respect its tenets and uphold the values upon which it was established.

He charged the members to take their responsibilities seriously and maintain discipline, stressing that the organisation should remain a platform for unity, cultural promotion and the advancement of the welfare of Ibibio people both at home and in the diaspora.
The Chairman also called on the Ibibio people to support the administration of the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, describing him as a bona fide son of Ibibio, whose success should be of collective interest to his people.
“Governor Umo Eno is a bona fide son of Ibibio, so we must protect him in all ramifications and support him to succeed,” Hon. Nyong stated.
He commended Gov. Eno for his leadership and development initiatives in the state, urging the people to continue to support his administration and contribute to the peace and development of Akwa Ibom.
The Chairman further reiterated his commitment to supporting Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio, Nsit Atai Chapter, whenever the need arises, and expressed his readiness to partner with the organisation in promoting the ideals and unity of the Ibibio nation.
He commended the Chapter President, Ukai Patrick Ekanem, for his leadership and efforts towards advancing the progress of the organisation in Nsit Atai, while extending his goodwill to the Ntisong the 4th, Ntisong Pius James Okon.
Earlier, the Chapter President of Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio, Nsit Atai Chapter, Ukai Patrick Ekanem, said the delegation was at the Chairman’s office to familiarise with him and appreciate him for his inclusive leadership style.
Ekanem expressed the group’s pride in having Hon. Nyong as a member and a true Ibibio son, commending his administration for its commitment to inclusive leadership and grassroots development.
He assured the Chairman of the chapter’s continued support for the programmes and initiatives of his administration, adding that the organisation would continue to identify with efforts aimed at improving the welfare and development of the people of Nsit Atai.
Ukai Patrick also disclosed that membership of the organisation was open to interested persons of Ibibio origin, encouraging eligible sons and daughters to identify with the group and contribute to its growth and development.
Also speaking, Mkpisong Afahide Uboh commended Hon. Nyong for his pragmatic leadership style and thanked him for receiving the delegation.
Afahide also appreciated the Chairman for his support and goodwill towards the organisation, expressing confidence in the continued progress of the chapter.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Mkpisong Akpaeno, who appreciated the Chairman for granting the organisation an audience and for his continued support.
The courtesy visit provided an opportunity for both the council administration and Akwa Esop Ima Isong Ibibio, Nsit Atai Chapter, to reaffirm their commitment to collaboration, unity and the promotion of the interests of the Ibibio people.
Those present during the visit included the Secretary to the Council, Obong Sunday Udia; Chief of Staff, Engr. Emmanuel Edet; and Dean of Supervisors, Hon. Emmanuel Okono.
