The wife of the executive chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Mrs. Emem Nyong, hosted widows drawn from the ten wards of the local government area at the Council Secretariat, Odot, on Friday, July 24, 2026, where she distributed cash gifts and relief materials as part of a humanitarian outreach tagged “A Day with the Widows”.
The programme, themed “Justice, Dignity and Economic Power for Widows”, was designed to celebrate widows, promote their wellbeing, and provide practical support aimed at improving their livelihoods.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Nyong expressed profound appreciation to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, for his compassionate and people-centred leadership, noting that his unwavering commitment to the welfare of vulnerable citizens continues to inspire humanitarian interventions across the State.

She also commended the Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Noble Lady Helen Eno Obareki, for her outstanding dedication to the welfare and empowerment of women, widows and other vulnerable groups through GIFA, describing her as a beacon of hope whose exemplary leadership continues to inspire women across Akwa Ibom State.
Mrs. Nyong further appreciated her husband, the Executive Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Anthony Nyong, for his steadfast support and commitment to the wellbeing of the people, which, she said, has created an enabling environment for impactful initiatives that continue to touch the lives of the vulnerable.
Addressing the widows, she encouraged them to remain hopeful and resilient despite the challenges of widowhood, emphasising that every widow deserves justice, dignity, love and opportunities for economic empowerment. She explained that the presentation of cash gifts and relief materials was a demonstration of love, compassion and solidarity, assuring them of her continued support and commitment to their welfare.

The presentation of the cash gifts and relief materials was received with joy and appreciation by the beneficiaries, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Nyong for her generosity and kindness. They described the intervention as timely and impactful and offered prayers for God’s continued blessings, protection and guidance upon her family.
