NUJ Chairman Tasks Engineers on Ethics, Professionalism

...Pledges Synergy For Societal Safety

The Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Nsibiet John, has tasked engineers to uphold professionalism and ethical standards in their duties for the common good of society.

Comrade John made this known when he received members of the Nigeria Society of Engineers NSE, Abak Branch, on a courtesy visit to his office in Uyo on Tuesday, February 3, 2025.

In his remarks, the NUJ Chairman congratulated the pioneer Chairman of the Abak branch of the NSE, Engr. Nsikak Akpan, on his emergence and charged him to instill discipline and uphold ethics and professionalism at all times as it will ensure a safe environment for everyone.

“I congratulate you my brother and friend, Engr. Nsikak Akpan on your emergence as the pioneer Chairman of NSE, Abak branch”
I want to appeal to you that you uphold professionalism and ethics while discharging your duties. When ethics is compromised, our society won’t be safe in terms of infrastructure.” He said.

He further called on members of the body to always raise alarm whenever they notice poorly executed projects within the state assuring that media community will also play their part in informing the public.

Earlier in his address, the Chairman of the Abak Branch of NSE, Engr. Nsikak Akpan, thanked Comrade John for the warm reception and also congratulated him on his emergence as the 13th Chairman of the NUJ.

He disclosed that the purpose of the visit was to officially introduce the Abak branch of NSE which birthed in June, 2025 and also seek for a mutually beneficial relationship with the NUJ for a better society.

Engr. Akpan also disclosed that under his leadership, the body will at all times adhere to their core objectives which is to promote engineering education, research and practice while also upholding professionalism.

He also revealed that the Abak branch will hold a world press conference next month to brief the public on their accomplishments.

In attendance during the visit were members of the State Working Committee of the NUJ and Comrade Edifon Edoho who is the Chairman of the State Information Chapel.
