Oku Ibom Ibibio and President – General of Ifim Ibom Ibibio, His Eminence (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk has commiserated with Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel on the passages of great sons of Akwa Ibom State in recent time.
Dr. Etuk, who is also the chairman of Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs and Paramount ruler of Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, in a message of condolence to the governor, his family, government and entire people of Akwa Ibom State, described the deaths a sad episode.
The message read, “It is really a grievous moment and sounds rather improbable that Akwa Ibom State has lost her great sons and patriots, whose lives greatly impacted on our State and Nation, nay the world at large.
“It surely resonates like the multiple falls of Iroko Trees that His Excellency, Otuekong (Air Commodore) Idongesit Nkanga (Rtd.), former Military Governor of Akwa Ibom State; Air Marshal Nsikak Abasi Eduok, former Chief of Air Staff; Arc Ime Ekpo, Immediate past Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources and Mr. Udo Ekpenyong, Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have passed away within a little stretch of time.”
According to the Oku Ibom Ibibio, “Never at any time have we witnessed the passages of patriots and Elder Statesmen like these, which has thrown the entire Akwa Ibom State into deep mourning.
“Our hearts writhe in pains and profound lamentations as we reflect on their sagacious lives and immutable contributions to the government, society and ecclesiastical wellbeing.”
He urged Governor Emmanuel, families of the deceased and Akwa Ibomites to take “solace in the reality of the fact that death is a transitory experience for all mortals, as we all will meet again during the resurrection. The Holy Scriptures in Daniel 12:2 states that, “Many who sleep in the dust of the ground will wake up into everlasting life.”
“Ifim Ibom Ibibio prays to the Almighty God to grant you, the families of the departed and the entire people of Akwa Ibom State, the fortitude to bear these irreparable losses,” and prayed for the repose of the souls in the bosom of the Lord.
