Oku Ibom Ibibio Wants Interstate Synergy For Traditional Rulers To Boost Culture, Tourism And Security
The Oku Ibom Ibibio and chairman, Akwa Ibom State council of Chiefs, His Eminence, Ntenyin (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk has called for closer working relationships among traditional rulers in the country to boost culture, tourism and security.
Ntenyin Etuk made the advocacy while receiving in his office, the Amayanabo of Opobo Kingdom and chairman, Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Majesty, king (Dr.) Dandeson Douglas Jaja JP, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Council Chambers, Wellington Bassey Way End Uyo, over the weekend.
The Akwa Ibom premier royal father, who is the paramount ruler of Nsit Ubium Local Government Area and President General of the Supreme Council of Ibibio Traditional Rulers Council, appreciated his counterpart from Rivers State, His Majesty, king (Dr.) Dandeson Douglas, for the royal visit to him and Akwa Ibom state in general.
“I am very happy to receive you today. As traditional rulers, we have the responsibility of preserving the culture and tradition of our people. We also have the duty of working with government and its various agencies to ensure the wellbeing of the people and the security of the society,” he stated.

According to the Oku Ibom Ibibio, who is the chancellor of the Akwa Ibom State University, interstates relationship is really needed now more than ever considering the charged security situation in the country.
He informed his counterpart that the State Council of Chiefs and the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have initiated strategic framework towards enhancing security in the state, explaining that as traditional rulers, they have huge responsibilities of maintaining peace, law and order at the grassroots levels, hence the need to ensure police collaboration.
“It is my earnest desire that we step up interstate relationships so promote culture, tourism and the security of our nation. Your visit therefore is in sync with this desire for closer working ties amongst traditional rulers in the federation.
As sisters’ states in South South, Akwa Ibom and with Rivers State share boundaries and have a lot in common. Through closer ties, we can easily explore avenues that can advance our collective interests in tourism, commerce, agriculture and security.

I sincerely commend you for undertaking this visit to me and Akwa Ibom State. It is worthy to note that under your reign as chairman of Rivers State Council of Chiefs, there have been positive developments in the traditional council and the state in general.
Speaking earlier, the Amayanabo of Opobo Kingdom and chairman, Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Majesty king (Dr.) Dandeson Douglas Jaja JP, Jeki V, said he was in Akwa Ibom State as mark of honour to the Oku Ibom Ibibio and Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs for his excellent leadership and good sense of brotherhood.
The royal father expressed appreciation for the hospitality accorded him during the visit and reiterated the oneness between Rivers State and Akwa Ibom State.
