Orile Agege LCDA Holds Interfaith Prayers for Speaker Obasa One Year After Impeachment Attempt

The Orile Agege Local Council Development Area (LCDA) held a special interfaith prayer session for the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, marking one year after he overcame an impeachment attempt.
The event, which brought together Christian, Muslim, and traditional religious leaders, political office holders, and community representatives, was held at the Orile Agege LCDA Secretariat on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
Speaking at the gathering, the Executive Chairman of Orile Agege LCDA, Hon. Akinola Abiodun Idowu, expressed gratitude to God for answering their prayers by intervening to halt the Speaker’s impeachment and for preserving the lives of people in the rural areas.
He also appreciated the community for attending the programme en masse and for their unwavering support of local political affairs
Idowu assured the people that the programme would be held annually and reiterated his commitment to fulfilling their aspirations under his leadership.

The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Orile Agege, Special Apostle Prophet Joseph Babatunde Olubode, committed the Speaker’s leadership into God’s hands.
While praying for God to continue to fill the Speaker with wisdom to lead his people progressively, the prophet urged the youth to emulate the Speaker’s good qualities in preparation for future leadership roles.
Speaking further, the Vice Chairman of Orile Agege LCDA, Hon. Fayemi Wale David, described the Speaker as a God-fearing leader and praised him for his sterling leadership qualities.
He noted that Speaker Obasa has consistently demonstrated the fear of God and stood firmly with the people of Agege, especially during challenging moments.
Offering thanksgiving, the Women Leader in Ward D, Mrs. Catherine Motunrayo Ogunyomi, appreciated God for the wisdom bestowed upon the Speaker to empower his constituents and carry out legislative duties effectively.
She further advised youths to exercise patience and learn from elders rather than rushing into positions of authority.
The highlight of the event was the interfaith prayers offered, with Christian and Islamic leaders leading biblical and Qur’anic supplications, alongside traditional Eriwo Ya rites.
Prayers were also offered for continued unity between Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, expressing hope for sustained harmony in state leadership until 2026.
Representatives of party faithful, the Arewa community led by Comrade Issa, and members of the Igbo community were also present at the event.
