Paramount Ruler of Uyo Undertakes Tour of Villages in Offot Ukwa Clan

The Paramount Ruler of Uyo Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State, HRM Edidem Sylvanus Effiong Okon is to undertake royal visitations to the 22 gazetted villages in Offot Ukwa Clan scheduled to commence on Friday, August 26, 2022.

The tour by the paramount ruler, who doubles as the clan head of Offot Ukwa, the biggest clan in Uyo Local Government Area, forms part of the activities lined up for the celebration of Offot Ukwa Festival of Arts and Culture, 2022.

The paramount ruler will be accompanied on royal visitations by the chairman and members of the Offot Ukwa Clan Council of Chiefs as well as the chairman and members of the Central Planning Committee (CPC) of Offot Ukwa Festival of Arts and Culture, 2022.

The schedule of the tour was formally approved by the Offot Ukwa Clan Council of Chiefs presided by the Paramount ruler, HRM Edidem Sylvanus Effiong Okon with the chairman, Eteidung (Rev.) Aniedi Edet Okon and the Secretary, Eteidung David Okon Etuk and other chiefs, in attendance.

Speaking at the clan council meeting, Edidem Okon appreciated the level of cooperation shown by village heads and the sons and daughters of the clan towards the success of the forthcoming festival in October this year.

The royal father called for continued love, unity and togetherness among the people of Offot Ukwa and other clans – Etoi, Oku and Ikono in Uyo Local Government Area. He also urged them to be supportive of the programmes and policies of Uyo Local Government Council and the state government and beyond.

In his remarks, the chairman of the clan council, who is the village head of Uyo Offot, Eteidung (Rev.) Aniedi Edet Okon spoke of the significance of the royal tour by the paramount ruler and urged all village heads and stakeholders to join hands to ensure its success.

Also speaking, the secretary to the clan council, who is the village head of Afaha Offot, Eteidung David Okon Etuk, appreciated the festival committee for its work so far and assured that necessary steps will be taken to implement the use of the recently unveiled clan logo and the various attires by villages.

The tour schedule presented to the clan council by the chairman of the Festival committee, Elder Patrick Albert and Secretary, Mrs Nkereuwem Bassey indicates that the Paramount ruler and the council members will commence the visit on Friday, August 26, 2022, at Nsukara Offot by 10 am and Use Offot by 1 pm.

Use Atai Offot and Ibiaku Offot follow on Monday, August 29, 2022, by 10 am and 1 pm respectively, while Ikot Anyang Offot and Ikot Ntuen Offot are on Friday, September 02, 2022, by 10 am and 1 pm respectively.

Ikot Oko Idio Offot and Ekpri Nsukara Offot hold on Monday, September 05, 2022, by 10 am and 1 pm respectively, while Anua Offot and Eniong Offot hold on Friday, September 09, 2022, by 10 am and 1 pm respectively.

Ewet Offot and Uyo Offot come up on Monday, September 12, 2022, by 10 am and 1 pm respectively, while Aka Offot and Iboko Offot are on Friday, September 16, 2022, by 10 am and 1 pm.

Efiat Offot and Atan Offot are on Monday, September 19, 2022, at 10 am and 1 pm while Afaha Offot and Ikot Okubo Offot hold on Monday, September 26, 2022:10am and 1 pm respectively.

Obio Offot and Use Ikot Ebio Offot are on Friday, September 30, 2022, by 10 am and 1 pm respectively while Anua Obio Offot and Ikot Ekpe Offot will take place on Monday, October 03, 2022, by 10 am and 1 pm respectively.

It could be recalled that in keeping with the activities towards the forthcoming Offot Ukwa Festival, the logo for the carnival was unveiled on Saturday, August 06, 2022, at the Ibom Plaza, Uyo amidst the glamorous celebration.
