Police Arrest 4, Recover Firearms, Drugs In A’Ibom

Akwa Ibom State Police Command has apprehended four suspected criminals in its latest crackdown on criminal activities across the state.

The suspects, Paul Sunday, Nelson Ekpa, Akaninyene Valentine, and Idongesit Harrison, were arrested at a hotspot in Okopedi on March 21, 2026, at approximately 1945 hrs, following a raid by police operatives who had received credible intelligence.

DSP Timfon John, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Akwa Ibom State Police Command, stated this in a press release issued in Uyo on Sunday, March 22, 2026.

DSP John said the suspects, who are all males, were found in possession of tools typically used for the preparation and consumption of illicit substances, including several empty Squadron bottles associated with substance abuse.

“Some quantities of crystal meth (ice) were also recovered from the scene,” she said, adding that the “suspects are currently in custody, and further investigations are ongoing.”

The PPRO also said that in another operation at Abia Uduk Street, Ikot Ebok, Eket, the police surveillance team swiftly responded to reports of suspicious activity.

“Upon sighting the police, several hoodlums fled the area. During their retreat, one suspect discarded a yellow nylon bag, which was recovered and found to contain two locally made pistols and two live cartridges.

These operations are a testament to the relentless efforts of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command to maintain peace and security.

She attributed the successes recorded in crime control from the series of intelligence-driven raids to the commitment of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi.

“The Akwa Ibom State Police Command remains committed to eradicating criminal elements from the State, with intensified efforts to clamp down on illegal firearms and the abuse of illicit substances.

“The Command urges members of the public to continue providing useful information to aid in the collective fight against crime,” she stated.
