The Police in Akwa Ibom State have arrested five suspects following their raid on criminal hideouts and identified black spots in Eket Local Government Area.
The arrested suspects, who are three males and two females, are identified as Bassey Bassey (male), Blessing Joshua (female), Christiana Emmanuel (female), Alfa Bamese (male), and Chidiebere Ekwozor (male).
DSP Timfon John, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, stated this in a press release on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
DSP John said the successful operation was in furtherance of the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, aimed at intensifying raids on criminal hideouts and identified black spots across the State.
According to her, “At about 0400 hrs on 9th February, 2026, Police operatives stormed an identified black spot in Eket, where five (5) suspects, three males and two females, were arrested.”

“During the operation, the following items were recovered: Dried leaves suspected to be Colorado (Colos); loud and liquid substances suspected to be intoxicants; assorted Tramadol and Codeine tablets; and methamphetamine, otherwise known as Ice.
“Other items were: One unknown black powder, an ATM card, a cash sum of ₦15,800.00, and several pictures and documents.”
DSP John stated that the suspects are currently undergoing a thorough investigation to ascertain the extent of their involvement and possible links to criminal activities.
She said that one of the suspects, Alfa Bamese, claimed that the recovered pictures were meant for an assignment, adding that investigations are, however, ongoing to verify his claim.
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command remains unwavering in its commitment to rid the State of criminal elements and calls on members of the public to continue supporting the Police with timely and credible information.
