The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to safeguard lives and protect vulnerable members of the public, particularly children.
To this end, the police have successfully arrested a suspected child abductor and rescued a two-month-old baby in Ikot Abasi.
DSP Timfon John, LLB, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), stated this in a press release on behalf of the Commissioner of Police in Uyo on Sunday, February 28, 2026.
According to DSP John, “On February 26, 2026, at about 0828 hrs, one Peace ‘F’, in the company of her mother, reported at the Police Station that her two-month-and-three-week-old baby boy had been abducted.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that at about 0559 hrs on the same date, the mother of the child had briefly left the baby in the care of her own mother. Upon her return at about 0630 hrs, she was informed that the grandmother had left the baby asleep on the bed while she took her bath.
