Another major success has been recorded by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command in its relentless effort to rid the state of criminally minded elements.
To this end, the command has successfully dismantled a three-man armed robbery syndicate and recovered arms and ammunition.
DSP Timfon John, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Akwa Ibom State Command, who announced this in a statement on Monday, November 10, 2025, said police operatives acting on credible intelligence apprehended two suspects at a native doctor’s residence in Ikot Ineme Village.

“On Friday, November 7, 2025, at approximately 20:00 hours, police operatives acting on credible intelligence apprehended two suspects at a native doctor’s residence in Ikot Ineme Village.
The suspects, identified as: Akan Udo ‘M’, 40 years, of Ikot Edem Udo Village, Namso Monday ‘M’, 20 years of Ikot Umo Essien Odoro Ikot Village, they were arrested while receiving treatment for undisclosed ailments. The native doctor, who is suspected of aiding the criminal gang, is currently at large, and efforts are underway to apprehend him.

The PPRO said during subsequent investigation, a third suspect, identified as Mbata Udo ‘M’, 40 years of Ikot Ukpong Offiong Village, was identified and arrested in connection with the same armed robbery incident.

She explained that a comprehensive search led to the recovery of the following items from the suspects: one (1) Locally Made Pistol, One (1) Locally Made Revolver Pistol, Sixteen (16) Machetes, Six (6) Mobile Phones Two (2) Big Generators, One (1) Battle Axe, One (1) plier and other incriminating items.
The PPRO said that investigation is ongoing and that the suspects will be charged to court upon completion.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Mohammed Azare fsi, has commended the officers for their diligence and reaffirms the Command’s unwavering commitment to rooting out criminal elements and ensuring the safety of all residents.
