It was a failed mission for suspected armed robbers on September 2, 2025, as police successfully halted their daredevil operations in Abiakpo Ntak Inyang village, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area.
According to the reports, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command received a distress call from a concerned citizen that two residents (names withheld) were under attack by two armed individuals, who wielded a jackknife and a machete.
DSP Timfon John, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Akwa Ibom State Police Command, disclosed this in a press release in Uyo, on Sunday, September 7, 2025.
She said upon receiving the information, a police patrol team was immediately dispatched to the scene at Abiakpo Ntak Inyang village.
“The officers quickly apprehended one of the suspects, identified as Ubong Victor Elijah, a native of Ikwen village in Obot Akara LGA, who resides in Ikot Obong Edong village.
“The second suspect, known only as Wisdom, fled the scene and remains at large,” she added.
The PPRO stated that during the arrest, a black face mask and two jackknives were recovered.

She also disclosed that “the victims, who sustained multiple stab wounds, were rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
According to her, “Upon interrogation, the arrested suspect confessed to his involvement in the crime.”
DSP John further stated that the police are actively investigating the incident and are working to locate the second suspect, while also assuring that further developments will be communicated to the public as the investigation progresses.
