
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a suspect linked to a case of defilement and armed robbery in the state.
According to the Police, the arrest was made on August 28, 2025, following a tip-off received on August 27 from a concerned citizen. Upon this information, detectives were able to track and apprehend the suspect, Happiness Alphonsus Iseyen, a 26-year-old male from the Ini Local Government Area.
DSP Timfon John, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Akwa Ibom State Police Command, announced this in a press release in Uyo, on Saturday, August 30, 2025
She said that the arrest was made at approximately 1340 hours and that upon a search of the suspect, a locally made pistol and one cartridge were recovered from his possession.
The PPRO said that the Police Command is conducting a discreet investigation to arrest other members of the gang and recover their operational weapons.
The command reassures the public of its commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents, adding, “We urge citizens to continue to cooperate with the police by providing timely and credible information.”
