Police Nab Vandal, Recover Stolen Telecom Mast In Uyo

Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have successfully apprehended a suspect and recovered a stolen vandalised telecommunications mast.

DSP Timfon John, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Akwa Ibom State Police Command stated this in a press release issued on Friday, September 5, 2025.

According to the PPRO, a police patrol team carried out the arrest and recovery of the items on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at approximately 10:40 AM, along Obong Sampson Idiong Drive in Uyo.

She said, “Based on actionable intelligence, Operatives were dispatched to Obong Sampson Idiong Drive in Uyo, where a group of individuals were reportedly loading a recently vandalized telecom mast into a truck.

“Upon the arrival of the patrol team, the suspects fled the scene, abandoning a green Isuzu truck with registration number AFG 517 XA.”

DSP John said the patrol team pursued the fleeing individuals, leading to the arrest of one suspect, Amisu Bala, a 30-year-old male, who is currently in custody and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

According to her, the recovered truck and the stolen telecom mast are now in police custody, adding that investigation is underway to uncover all the facts surrounding the crime, while efforts are being made to arrest the remaining members of the syndicate.
