Police Raid Criminal Hideout, Arrest Suspect, Recover Firearms

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command, in its intensified efforts to rid the state of crime, has raided a criminal hideout in Itak Village, Ikono Local Government Area.

The operation, undertaken after receipt of credible intelligence, led to the arrest of one Emmanuel Emmanuel Anthony, a 26-year-old man, who is suspected of being a member of a cult group.

DSP Timfon John, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Akwa Ibom State Police Command, stated this in a press release in Uyo on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

According to the PPRO, the raid, which was conducted on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at approximately 05:17 hours, also saw the recovery of one locally fabricated pistol, an Ekpo masquerade mask, and a bag containing items suspected to be charms.

She disclosed that preliminary investigations have begun, assuring that further developments will be communicated as the investigation progresses.

The press release read, “Operatives of the Command successfully raided a criminal hideout in Itak Village, Ikono Local Government Area.

“On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at approximately 0517 hours, operatives of the Command successfully raided a criminal hideout in Itak Village, Ikono Local Government Area.

“Credible intelligence led to the arrest of one Emmanuel Emmanuel Anthony, a 26-year-old male, who is suspected to be a member of a cult group.

“During the search, operatives recovered the following items from the suspect: one locally fabricated pistol, an Ekpo masquerade mask, and a bag containing items suspected to be charms.”
