Police Raid Suspected Drug Den, Recover Suspected Hard Drugs And Weapons In Itam

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has continued to count gains in its sustained operations to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure public safety.

The latest is the successful raiding of a suspected drug den at Ntak Inyang, along Calabar–Itu Road, near the famous Itam Market in Itu Local Government Area.

The operation, which was conducted on February 14, 2026, at about 11:35 hours, led to the arrest of one suspect, Akin Robert ‘M’, who hails from Ogbomoso South in Oyo State.

DSP Timfon John, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), stated this in a press release on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, in Uyo on Sunday, February 15, 2026.

DSP John said, “Upon search, the suspect was found in possession of a large quantity of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, a dagger, a pair of scissors, and the sum of forty-six thousand five hundred naira (₦46,500.00), reasonably suspected to be proceeds from illicit drug sales.

She said the suspect was promptly arrested at the scene and taken into custody for a thorough investigation.

The PPRO reiterated that the successful operation was in strict compliance with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, that Akwa Ibom must be kept safe and secured by weeding out criminal elements.

“The Akwa Ibom State Police Command reiterates its zero-tolerance stance against drug-related crimes and other criminal activities that threaten the peace and stability of the State.

“Residents are encouraged to continue providing credible information to the Police to aid ongoing operations.

“The Command remains resolute in its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the State,” she added.
