Police Recover Stolen Vehicle, Arrest Suspect In Akwa Ibom

In its crackdown on criminal activities, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has again busted a car syndicate, recovered another stolen car, and arrested a suspect.

The latest breakthrough, made on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, led to the arrest of one Otoabasi George Ime, a male suspect found in possession of a Toyota Camry with registration number BGM 934 DA.

DSP Timfon John, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Akwa Ibom State Police Command, disclosed this in a press release made available to media houses on Thursday, August 14, 2025.

According to the PPRO, the latest operation connects with a previous report dated August 6, 2025, which detailed the arrest of a syndicate, adding that since then, operatives of the State Command have intensified their efforts to recover more stolen vehicles.

The press release read: The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has successfully recovered another vehicle linked to a stolen car syndicate and arrested an additional suspect.

“Further to a previous report dated August 6, 2025, detailing the arrest of a syndicate, Operatives of the Command have continued their efforts to recover more stolen vehicles.

“On August 13, 2025, at 1600 hours, police action led to the arrest of Otoabasi George Ime, a male suspect found in possession of a Toyota Camry with registration number BGM 934 DA. This vehicle has been confirmed as one of the stolen cars connected to the previously apprehended syndicate.

“The Command is intensifying its efforts to recover the remaining stolen vehicles.”

She reaffirmed Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property.
