
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command successfully rescued a kidnap victim abducted from his home in Ikot Abasi at approximately 2:00 AM.
Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, announced the operation’s success during a press briefing at the State Police Headquarters in Ikot Akpan Abia. Swift action by police officers led to the interception of the kidnappers along a road in Southern Annang, ensuring the victim was rescued unharmed.
The operation’s success was attributed to timely intelligence, effective coordination, and the bravery of the officers involved.
Recovered items from the suspects include a Browning pistol, a short machete, a Peugeot 505 car, a single slipper, a Murano car key, a pullover used to cover the victim’s face, and a B1 sweater.
CP Azare commended the efforts of SP Kingsley Anosike, CPL Ideba Eleng, and PC Nsikak Vincent, who will receive commendation awards for their dedication.
“This is a victory for the rule of law and the sanctity of human life,” Azare stated, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of Akwa Ibom residents. The Police Command vowed to continue pursuing justice and maintaining vigilance to combat crime across the state.
The victim’s identity remains withheld, and the police expressed solidarity with the victim and their family during their recovery.
