The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has called on victims of alleged machete attacks around Osongama and Four Lanes in Uyo to report to the nearest Police Station.
The call follows a message circulating on social media alleging that a man armed with a machete has been attacking and robbing residents in the areas.
In a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, on Thursday, October 8, 2026, the Command said it has noted the viral message and is urging anyone who may have been attacked or robbed to make a formal report.
According to DSP John, victims should provide relevant details, including date, time and location of the incident, description of the suspect, items allegedly taken, and any available evidence.
She said such reports will assist the Command in investigating the allegations, establishing the facts, and identifying and tracing the suspect.
The PPRO also called on members of the public with credible information that may assist the investigation to contact the Police.
While advising residents to remain calm, avoid confronting anyone suspected of carrying a weapon, and promptly report suspicious activities, she cautioned against circulating unverified information capable of causing unnecessary fear or panic.
