President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described the Abuja Interchange Bridge, which he commissioned on Wednesday, as a promise fulfilled.
The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, represented Tinubu to commission the newly constructed Interchange Bridge of Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Way) over the outer Northern motorway (Murtala Mohammed Expressway).
In his message, Tinubu said, “This bridge is a promise fulfilled and a glimpse into the future we are collectively building – a future where infrastructure catalyses economic growth, where connectivity fosters unity and where every Nigerian can access opportunities without hindrance.”
He remarked further that the bridge stood as a “symbol of what we can achieve when we work together with purpose and determination.”
The President said the interchange, which he described as a “magnificent piece of engineering, is indeed a testament to our unwavering commitment to progress, a beacon of our collective aspiration for a more connected and prosperous Abuja.”
He noted that while rapid urbanisation was a sign of growth, it had also presented challenges, particularly in ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of people and goods.
“This interchange is a crucial answer to those challenges, designed to alleviate traffic congestion, enhance safety and significantly improve the daily lives of residents and commuters in Abuja.
“Our Renewed Hope Agenda is built on the bedrock of robust infrastructure. We understand that a nation’s arteries must be strong, clear and efficient to pump life into its economy and foster societal well-being,” Tinubu said.

The President commended the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) under the dynamic leadership of the Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, for their vision, dedication and tireless efforts in bringing the project to fruition.
He added that their commitment to transforming Abuja into a world-class capital was evident in projects of this magnitude.
Speaking earlier, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, said the project was awarded in 2020, but they decided to complete the project following the directive of the Tinubu Administration that every uncompleted project that would impact positively on the lives of the people and the economy of Nigeria should be accorded priority attention.
