The Executive Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Anthony Nyong, has commended the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, for his administration’s development strides in Nsit Atai, saying the local government area has received significant attention under the governor’s development agenda.
Prince Nyong made the commendation during the commissioning of the newly constructed state-of-the-art Model Primary School at Ikot Akpabio, Nsit Atai Local Government Area, on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
The commissioning formed part of activities marking the 39th anniversary of the creation of Akwa Ibom State, with 39 projects scheduled for commissioning across the state.
The chairman expressed appreciation to Gov. Eno for the Model Primary School, describing it as a significant addition to the educational infrastructure of Nsit Atai and another demonstration of the governor’s commitment to improving the quality of life of the people.
According to him, the school, delivered under the education component of the Governor’s ARISE Agenda, would provide pupils in Nsit Atai with a modern and conducive learning environment while contributing to the development of a strong educational foundation for the next generation.

Prince Nyong noted that the Model Primary School was only one of several major projects and interventions through which the governor’s administration had impacted the local government area.
He listed the Nsit Atai–Okobo Dual Carriageway, Ikot Essien–Ikot Uyio Road, Youth Friendly Centre, Odot–Ikot Ubo Road, Ikot Asua–Odot Road, and the numerous Compassionate Homes provided for vulnerable residents among the projects either completed, ongoing, or scheduled for commissioning.
The chairman particularly thanked Gov. Eno for completing the Nsit Atai–Okobo Dual Carriageway, recalling that the road had passed through several contractors before the governor assumed office in 2023.
He said the completion of the strategic road had eased movement and opened up greater opportunities for residents, businesses, and communities along the corridor.
Prince Nyong also acknowledged the ongoing construction of the Ikot Asua–Odot Road, describing it as another important intervention that would improve connectivity and facilitate economic activities across communities in Nsit Atai.
He said the various projects and interventions were clear indications of the governor’s attention to the development needs of Nsit Atai, stressing that the people of the Local Government Area remained appreciative of the initiatives.
The Chairman, therefore, called for continued support for Gov. Eno, declaring that the people of Nsit Atai were prepared to reciprocate the development initiatives of his administration through their support for his re-election bid in the 2027 governorship election.
Representing Gov. Umo Eno at the event, former member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekpenyong, said the state government would continue to invest in education as part of efforts to lay a strong foundation for the future of Akwa Ibom children.
He appealed to communities to protect government facilities within their domains, stressing that such cooperation would encourage the government to do more.
“This is a state-of-the-art school environment that will challenge the children to do better. I enjoin the people of Nsit Atai to ensure that this facility is not misused,” he said.
Giving an overview of the project, the Commissioner for Education, represented by the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Rt. Hon. Anietie Etuk, disclosed that the school was equipped with modern learning facilities, including fully furnished classrooms, an ICT laboratory, solar-powered electricity, a modern sick bay, an assembly hall, a standard library, and staff quarters.
The facility also features an Early Child Care Development Centre, sports facilities, and a security post.
In her goodwill message, the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Princess Emem Ibanga, commended Governor Eno for his continued efforts to improve the learning environment for children across Akwa Ibom State, describing the Model School as another valuable asset to Nsit Atai.
Also speaking, the member representing Nsit Atai State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Aniefiok Attah, commended Governor Eno for his investment in education, noting that the facility would positively impact the lives of children in the area.
He equally called on the people to protect the school against vandalism and ensure that it serves its intended purpose.
The member representing Uyo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Mark Esset, also lauded Governor Eno for transforming the educational landscape of Akwa Ibom State and setting a new standard in basic education infrastructure.
The Paramount Ruler of Nsit Atai, HRM Edidem Okon Effiong, paid glowing tributes to Governor Eno for his contributions to educational development in the state.
The Model Primary School initiative, being implemented by the Eno administration across the 31 Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State, is equipped with modern learning infrastructure aimed at raising the standard of basic education and providing pupils in rural and urban communities with conducive learning environments.
The commissioning ceremony attracted members of the State Executive Council, local government chairmen, traditional rulers, lawmakers, political leaders, elders, women, and youths, among other dignitaries.
