Qua Iboe Church Immortalises Gov Udom’s Mother

 

Qua Iboe Church, Uyo Township has named an event hall after Governor Udom Emmanuel’s late mother.
The opening ceremony of the 600 seat capacity event hall which is located on the top floor of Qua Iboe House was officially  performed by the governor on Sunday.
The governor had in February this year pledged to furnish and equip the event hall in memory of his mother late Deaconess Emily Gabriel Nkanang.
At the opening ceremony, the governor lauded the vision of the church’s leadership in building the imposing Qua Iboe House he had commissioned on November 17, 2016.
Represented by his Special Assistant on Religious Matters, Rev Daniel Akwatang, the governor called on mothers to lay good foundation for their children who in turn will immortalise them in future. He used the occasion to reiterate his goodwill towards the church and solicited for continued prayers for the progress of Akaw Ibom State.
In a welcome address at the event, the church committee chairman, Elder (Barr) Udo Joseph Asamudo thanked the governor for personally providing funds for the furnishing and equipping of the event hall.
“His Excellency made a personal commitment to leave an imprint of his late mother in the magnificent Qua Iboe House when he commissioned the edifice on 17th November, 2016.
“ To make do his promise, our Governor graciously donated money in February, 2019 for the equipping of the event hall “ , Elder Asamudo said.
The church committee chairman who is a retired permanent secretary thanked the governor  for choosing the church to immortalise his late mother.
“We are very delighted that His Excellency chose a facility in our church to immortalise the late mother.
“ This act of immortalising your mother shows that she played significant roles in your life which you value and cherish”, Elder Asamudo said.
He ranked the late Deaconess Nkanang among some godly mothers who made impacts in the success stories of their children.
He used the occasion to particularly thank Governor Emmanuel for the massive renovation of the Samuel Bill Theological College, located in Abak Local Government Area and billed for commissioning on Thursday.
