
President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, on Friday, August 29, 2025, continued with commissioning of projects across the Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District, with a further charge on the benefitting communities to protect and own the projects.
At every commissioning site, the people of the communities trooped out in their thousands to welcome and thank him for bringing development to their door steps, reassuring him, President Bola Tinubu and Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State of their total support in 2027.
Projects commissioned cut across two local government councils, namely Abak and Ikot Ekpene.
The projects inaugurated by the Senate President, who was accompanied by Senators Ede Dafinone and Abiodun Olujimi included; 12 classrooms block at Community Secondary School, Otoro Abak 10, in Abak Local Government Area, while an ICT Centre at State Secondary Commercial School, Okop Etop; an ultra-modern market, Uruda; 500m tarred road at Atan residential estate, and another 500m tarred road in Ikot Obio Okpon, Ikot Ekpene.

In his response, the chairmen of Abak Local Government, Mrs Ime Charles and his Ikot Ekpene counterpart, Elder Friday Nkom, thanked Senator Akpabio and reiterated their support for all the candidates of the APC in 2027.
The high point of commissioning in Ikot Ekpene was the presentation of a traditional sword, as a symbol of authority from the traditional rulers of the local government at Aba Ekpe.
