Service Delivery: Senator Effiong Bob Advocates Long Term For Lawmakers

The two-term senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and former Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of University of Benin, Senator Effiong Bob has made a passionate appeal to Nigerians to see the need for continuity for lawmakers at all levels of government to enhance service delivery.

 

Bob, a former supervisory councillor at the beginning of his political career, stated this when the Conference of former Councillors and Supervisors of Akwa Ibom State paid a courtesy call on him in his country home, recently.

 

Senator Bob noted that majority of the former Councillors and Supervisors were quality materials but for the tenure shortcoming and the issue of zoning and rotation which affected their political advancement.

 

He used the opportunity to advocate for the continuity of legislators at all levels for quality service delivery.

On the appeal by the Conference for Senator Effiong Bob to run for governorship of the state come 2023, Senator Bob said that God will ensure that someone who understands the problems of the state will be in governance but quickly added that the people must make themselves available for God to use them to actualize His purpose as according to him, power resides with the people and flows from the people.

According to Senator Bob, “I am the solution to the afflictions of former Councillors and Supervisors of Akwa Ibom State. As a one-time Supervisor of Works in Nsit Ubium Local Government Council, I understand the problems of former Councillors and Supervisors and I am sufficiently qualified to address them.”

 

Earlier, the Chairman of the Conference of Former Councillors and Supervisors, Akwa Ibom State, Hon Nkereuwem James had said that the Conference has found Senator Bob as a reliable and experienced politician and administrator and that the Conference would like him to be Governor of Akwa Ibom State in 2023.

 

He said that as a grassrooter, Senator Bob understands the problems of the state and so the state needs him and his services.

 

Also speaking at the event, Prof Philip Afaha charged the Conference of former Councillors and supervisors to work hard enough to see to it that their dreams come true.

 

In his words, “As a one-time Supervisor, Senator Bob understands your challenges and so he is in a better position to do well for you.”
