Sheath Your Swords, tow Path of Peace, A’Ibom Council of Chiefs tells World Leaders

The first plenary of the Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs for the year 2020 has ended with a call for world leaders to sheath their swords and tow the path of peace.

The monarchs who converged at the Chambers of the Council on Thursday deliberated on current issues, calling world leaders to embrace peace.

The Royal Fathers who believed that nothing was more important than dialogue, in events of global threats, appealed to the officials of the United States and the Iran to rescind their warpath and reach a common grounds of reconciliation.

Speaking during the session, the Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs, Nteyin Solomon Etuk prayed God to touch the hearts of leaders across the world to ensure harmonious existence amongst humanity.

According to Solomon Etuk, “We must reflect peace and unity in our daily activities to represent the essence of our calling as Paramount Rulers.

“We must preach the message of peace to our own subjects. God is supreme and we must not fail in our duties towards peace building.

“I urge you to return to your respective local governments to hold solemn assembly and pray for the state. Pray for the elevation of this state.

“For the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, we must pray to God to grant him good health, wisdom and love to pilot the nation’s affairs in a way that will consider the various federating units. No region is more important than the other. Every section of the country deserves its due.

The Nsit Ubium Paramount Ruler appealed to the Nigerian president to visit the South. “We ask God’s love in him, so he could be willing to work for the prosperity of our region”, he said.

Calling on Paramount rulers to engage in activities that reflect peace and unity in their locales, the Monarch maintained that only such gesture would promote the peace-loving governance of Governor Udom Emmanuel.

Solomon Etuk who petitioned God to grant long life, strength and protection to the Paramount rulers, added that he was desirous to end his tenure with all members of his council being alive.

The meeting which featured a session of prayers for world peace as well as growth and prosperity of Nigeria led by both the Paramount Ruler of Nsit Atai, Edidem Peter Okon and the Paramount Ruler of Ikot Abasi, Edidem Joe Ntokobom was attended by 24 of the 31 Paramount Rulers in the state.
