He said it was crucial for youths of Akwa Ibom State to fully get registered to vote in the upcoming elections. Elder Akpan advised them to follow the INEC guidelines.

According to INEC, the voter registration is for three categories of electorate, namely, those who have turned 18 years old but have never registered; those whose voter’s cards were lost, damaged or destroyed; and those wishing to change their polling units within the same ward, from one local government area to another or from one state to another.

The registration is being done both online and physically. The online registration commenced on 18 August 2025, and the physical registration on 25 August 2025, and both are ongoing till next year.

Elder Akpan also said he was not only out to mobilise the youths for the INEC voter registration, but all people of Akwa Ibom State, both elders and youths.
