Stakeholders of Nung Atai Pick Sylvester Attah, Others As Consensus Candidates
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nung Atai Ube wards II and III in Okobo Local Government Area, has endorsed candidates for the forthcoming council poll scheduled for October 2020.
They are Dr Attah Sylvester for chairman; Mr Essien Ntekim for councillor Ube Ward II and Miss Nelly Umoh for councillor Ube Ward III.
At an enlarged stakeholders meeting on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, the candidates were unanimously endorsed in consonance with the party’s guidelines. The decision was reached after recommendations by the ward’s screening committee and conveyed by the spokesperson, Hon Friday Umoh.
In a special remark, the ward leader, Barr Ekpenyong, said the resolution which will be ratified at the party’s congress on August 19, 2020, became necessary after due assessment of the qualities and abilities of the candidates in giving the local government area effective representation.
He commended the maturity and peaceful conduct of the aspirants and charged them to reciprocate the confidence reposed in them.
The candidates in their separate remarks thanked the party for finding them fit and pledged not to betray the confidence of the people in them.
The meeting had in attendance Barr. Ekpenyong Ntekim, a former attorney general and commissioner for justice, Akwa Ibom State; Lady Mary Unungane, PDP state officer; Hon. Friday Umoh, councillor representing the ward; Hon. (Pastor) Ben Akwa, former vice-chairman of Okobo Local Government Council (OKLGC) and Elder Effiong Eyah, PDP ward chairman.

Others were Mr Harris Ntoe, supervisor for works, housing and transport, OKLGC; Mr Bassey Ntekim, a former secretary of OKLGC and PDP chapter chairman; chapter officers from the ward, ward executive members, all former councillors from the ward, former ward chairmen and chapter officers, ward elders, youths and women.
