Ekpri Nsukara Offot Village has warned an indigene of the community, Mr. Udeme Eyo Asuquo to stop his campaign of calumny against the village head, Eteidung Emem Denis Asikpo, and the village Council.
The community, in a communiqué, urged Mr Asuquo and his cohorts, who appear to be still feeling unhappy that they lost out in having their aspirant to be selected as the village head in May 2023, to desist forthwith from fabricating falsehood in a bit to blackmail the successful candidate, Eteidung Asikpo, who was chosen by the kingmakers and subsequently issued with a certificate of recognition by the state government.
The communiqué issued after an enlarged meeting of the community warned that if Mr. Asuquo persists with his ignoble acts of orchestrating malicious falsehood to blackmail and tarnish the reputation of the village head, extant laws will be employed against him and his cohorts.

Village Head of Ekpri Nsukara Offot, Uyo
The meeting was a sequel to recent spurious, concocted, perverse, and ill-intentioned allegations levelled against Eteidung Emem Denis Asikpo’s leadership by one Mr. Udeme Eyo Asuquo, fronting as Secretary, Voice of Liberation Uyo (MPCS) Ltd., in an advertorial published on page 10 of The Pioneer Newspaper of April 21 – April 22, 2025.

As a mark of trust and loyalty in the leadership of the village head and in appreciation of his sterling leadership since his ascension to the Kingship stool of Ekpri Nsukara Offot in May 2023, the community, therefore, unanimously passed a vote of confidence on Eteidung Asikpo.
Below is the communiqué:
COMMUNIQUÉ OF AN ENLARGED MEETING OF EKPRI NSUKARA OFFOT VILLAGE COUNCIL – COMPRISING THE CHAIRMAN, SECRETARY, FAMILY HEADS/REPRESENTATIVES OF THE FIVE FAMILIES OF THE COMMUNITY, YOUTH LEADERS, EMINENT RESIDENTS AND MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION OF MOTORCYCLISTS, MET AT THE PALACE OF THE VILLAGE HEAD, ON SATURDAY, 26TH APRIL, 2025.
Rising from an extensive deliberation on a recent publication by one Mr. Udeme Eyo Asuquo, fronting as Secretary, Voice of Liberation Uyo (MPCS) Ltd., on page 10 of The Pioneer Newspaper of April 21 – April 22, 2025, the Community unanimously resolved as follows:
1. That the entirety of the allegations as contained in the said publication, titled, “How the village head of Ekpri Nsukara Offot Village, Uyo L.G.A., Akwa Ibom State is using his “cult boys” to attack innocent indigenes: A call for serious action from the authorities”, is false, spurious, concocted, perverse, and ill-intentioned.
2. That the Community accordingly condemns the publication as a figment of the imagination of Mr. Udeme Eyo Asuquo, which is wilfully orchestrated to tarnish the reputation of Eteidung Emem Denis Asikpo, thereby bringing him to public ridicule to undermine his leadership of the Community.
3. That the Community demands that Mr. Udeme Eyo Asuquo, should tender an unreserved apology to Eteidung Emem Denis Asikpo and the Village Council for such unwarranted vituperation, which amounts to criminal defamation, failing which he should be appropriately sanctioned in line with extant laws.
4. That the recent hostility among members of the Association of Motorcyclists in Ekpri Nsukara Offot Village, which occurred on Thursday, 17th April 2025, was not a cult clash, nor was it instigated or sponsored by Eteidung Emem Denis Asikpo’s leadership as falsely and mischievously alleged in the said publication by Mr. Udeme Eyo Asuquo.
5. That as narrated by the Chairman of the Association of Motorcyclists in Ekpri Nsukara Offot, Comrade Ekemini Ekpe Jonah, the Secretary, Comrade Christian Edmond, and other members, the squabble among them was caused by one Mr Okokon Okon Sampson, a non-member of the association, who invaded the park with his associates, seeking to illegally topple a duly constituted interim executive of the association by ringing a bell and declaring the dissolution of the Exco, which was instantly rebuffed. And that the offender was also quoted to have made a very odious statement that there is no village head in Ekpri Nsukara Offot.
6. That subsequent to such strange actions by the intruder and his associates, a commotion was triggered in the park, as other members quickly held him and seized the bell; resulting in a free-for-all fight, and the process, he (Mr. Okokon Okon Sampson) and some members sustained injuries. As a non-member of the association, Mr. Okokon Okon Sampson lacked the right to have demanded the dissolution of the Executive Council or seek to be an officer.
7. That when the offender, Mr. Okokon Okon Sampson, following the incident at the park, was brought to the Village Hall at Mission Road where the Executives of the Village Council were holding a meeting at the time, the Village Head, Eteidung Asikpo, in his humane manner, called for calm among the warring motorcyclists and graciously, provided funds for the injured person to be taken Ropheka Clinic, at No. 20 Anana Ekong Street, Ekpri Nsukara Offot village Uyo for treatment.
8. The community then wondered how such a glaring incident which involved motorcyclists should be construed and used by the said Mr. Udeme Eyo Asuquo to cast unwarranted aspersions on the integrity of Eteidung Asikpo, by stating in his libellous publication that “the traditional stool of the village headship of Ekpri Nsukara Offot Village is a den of criminals.”
9. That at the bottom of this hatred, bias, and misguided newspaper publication in The Pioneer Newspaper and the earlier live Radio programme on TangSio FM 102.7 on 10th March by Mr. Udeme Eyo Asuquo and his cohorts, is their unsuccessful aspiration to produce a village head in May 2023. That one may desire to be a king but it is God that crowns. That the Kingmakers of Ekpri Nsukara Offot had rightly selected Otuekong Emem Denis Asikpo upon which the Government of Akwa Ibom State had upheld it and accordingly issued a certificate of recognition to him. So there is no vacancy in the village headship stool. Mr. Udeme Eyo Asuquo and his cohorts, who still feel embittered that their aspirant lost out to be selected as the village head of Ekpri Nsukara Offot are accordingly advised to refrain from their nefarious activities. Enough is enough!
10. That the same Mr. Udeme Eyo Asuquo had raised a similar false alarm by sending a frivolous petition to the Police FID Abuja, Headquarters, which caused the invitation of the Village Head to Abuja. At the meeting convened by the FID, Abuja which had in attendance the Paramount Ruler of Uyo, notable Chiefs of the Community, and Lawyers, Mr. Udeme Eyo Asuquo could not substantiate his petition.
11. That with nothing concrete from him, the Police FID, Abuja, accordingly referred the petition to the Uyo Traditional Rulers Council for arbitration, and the outcome was reported to it. To the chagrin of everyone. Mr. Udeme Eyo Asuquo dishonoured Uyo TRC by refusing to attend the sessions scheduled to hear his petition.
12. That such recalcitrant behaviour by an indigene, who is not even residing in the Village, shows that he intends to discredit Eteidung Emem Denis Asikpo and to portray him in bad light before the public.
13. That Mr. Udeme Eyo Asuquo and his ilk, should in his interest, refrain from these spates of serial blackmail against the village head, Eteidung Emem Denis Asikpo, and should toe the path of peace and unity by joining hands with others in the development of the village as currently championed by the village head.
14. That the Community therefore unanimously passed a Vote of Confidence on Eteidung Emem Denis Asikpo in appreciation of his sterling leadership and excellent performance since his ascension to the Kingship stool of Ekpri Nsukara Offot in May 2023, noting that he has performed excellently well.
