...As Oku Ibom Ibibio Felicitates The Emir Of Lafia
Prominent traditional rulers in the country converged in the ancient city of Lafia in Nasarawa State to grace the fifth-anniversary celebration of HRH Justice Sidi Bage-Mohammed on the throne as the Emir of Lafia.
Their royal fathers were the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III; Oni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja 11; Oku Ibom Ibibio and President General of the Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, His Eminence, Ntenyin (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk, CFR; Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garba; Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero; and Emir of Zauzau, Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli.
Also at the event were the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar; Lamido of Adamawa, Lamido Muhammadu Barkindo; Emir of Biu, Mai Mustapha Umar; and the Aku Uka of Wukari, Manu Ishaku Ada Ali, among others.
HRH Bage-Mohammed, a retired Justice of the Supreme Court, ascended the throne following the demise of HRH Isa Mustapha Agwai I, the late emir.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, in his speech at the occasion, called on Nigerians to keep praying for the country’s leaders to enable them to navigate through the current socio-economic and political challenges in the country.
The Sultan, while urging Nigerians to work for the unity, peace and development of the country, also appealed to leaders to work towards addressing the challenges facing the country.
“We know that our leaders are trying, but the people are in a hurry to see positive changes that will renew their hopes for a better life.
“We are showing the whole world that royal fathers in this country are united; just look at the list of traditional rulers from the six geo-political zones that honoured the occasion,” he added.
In a goodwill message, Oku Ibom Ibibio and President General of the Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, His Eminence, Ntenyin (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk, CFR, felicitated HRH Justice Sidi Bage-Mohammed on his successful fifth-year throne as the Emir of Lafia.
“I felicitate you, my dear royal brother, on this occasion of your 5th anniversary on the throne. You have led your subjects well and have been a strong voice towards the peace, unity and development of Nasarawa State and Nigeria as a whole.
“On behalf of the Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, I heartily congratulate you and wish you many more fruitful years on the throne,” Oku Ibom Ibibio stated.
The Patriarch of the Ibibios worldwide reiterated that the existing cooperation between the traditional institutions in Akwa Ibom State and Nasarawa State shall continue for the benefit of the two states and the larger Nigerian society.
