Suspected Notorious Vandal Nabbed By Police In Akwa Ibom

A suspected notorious vandal, Godstime Emmanuel James, has been arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command.

According to reports, James, a 23-year-old man from Midim Water Side, Abak, in Abak LGA, is said to have been on the police’s watchlist for his habitual acts of vandalism in the area.

DSP Timfon John, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Akwa Ibom State Police Command, announced his arrest in a press release in Uyo on Saturday, August 23, 2025.

According to the PPRO, “At approximately 9:30 PM on August 18, 2025, police successfully arrested a suspected habitual vandal following an intelligence-led raid.

“Acting on credible information, operatives of the command mobilised to raid the premises of God’stime Emmanuel James, a 23-year-old male from Midim Water Side. James, who had previously fled the community, was wanted in connection with the vandalisation of school structures and private homes.

“Upon arrival, officers sighted James and several other unknown individuals. James was apprehended during the raid, while the others escaped into a nearby creek on sighting the police vehicle.”

The PPRO said that “items recovered from the scene include a small handbag containing dried leaves suspected to be cannabis, four door handles, a mini flashlight, and several parts of damaged door locks.”

With the suspect in police custody, the authorities are asking victims of recent vandalism in the area to come forward to provide identification and statements to assist with the ongoing investigation and prosecution.
