It was an emotion laden moment on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at the committal service for Late Arc Elder Ntieyong Inyangmme at Oko-Ita, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area as Distinguished Senator Bassey Albert Akpan rendered his funeral oratory.
Senator Albert, who represents Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District in the Senate, got the mammoth crowd of sympathisers, including political chieftains, Government officials, educationists, traditional rulers and others, into tearful mode with his recollections of the life of the Late Arc Inyangmme, who was until his demise, the political leader of Ibiono Ibom LGA.
The Senator, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources Upstream described late Inyangmme, who was the Pioneer State Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Akwa Ibom State Chapter as one of the most consistent leaders he has ever came across.
He noted that Ibiono Ibom, Akwa Ibom State and humanity have lost a figure whose shinning light shone very brightly: “The Bible in Matthew 5:16 states very clearly, ‘Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.’ The light of Inyangmme shone very brightly in Ibiono Local Government Area and in Akwa Ibom State and I believe with the testimonies about his life and times today, that he has gone to be with the Lord, I have no doubt in my mind.”

The Senator further eulogized Inyangmme for his leadership prowess, upright disposition and high moral standing:
“Inyangmme had what they call moral authority. If you are elected, you come and go; if you are appointed, you come and go but Inyangmme stays. He was one of the most consistent leaders I have come across in my life.
“I believe that one of the traits and characteristics of leadership is your strength of character and your consistency. Inyangmme was and still is a complete leader. Nobody can come here to challenge us that Inyangmme was not the political leader of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area. Political leadership is not by election, it is not by appointment. Political leadership is by the experience and the impact you’ve had in the lives of a people over a period of time.”
Continuing, the Senator acknowledged the late Inyangmme’s commitment to pursuing the course of the Local Government Area without compromise, adding that as someone who worked under him until death, he learnt a great deal from him.
“I pray that God in heaven will give us the encouragement and will place the love in our hearts not to forget the family of Inyangmme. He lived a good life and is gone to be with the Lord and we’re here celebrating his legacies. To God be the glory, in Jesus name, Amen,” he concluded.
