Two Rapists Sent to Jail In Akwa Ibom

To Spend 28 Years In Prison

Two computer instructors in a popular computer centre in Nkemba Street, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State have been sentenced to 14 years each in prison.

The two men, who gang raped a 17-year-old girl in Eda Street, Uyo on 19th February, 2018 were convicted today, Wednesday, June 24, 2020 by a State High Court sitting in Uyo.

The convicts are Samuel Thompson Rankin, 20-year-old native of Ikono and Henry Eyo Okon, 20-year-old native of Ituk Mbang in Uruan Local Government Area of the State

The High Court Judge, Justice Okon Okon found them guilty of rape charge and convicted accordingly them without any option of fine.

Justice Okon held that the convicts cooked rice with leaves which the Police suspected to be Indian hemp for the minor who was their computer student and after eating it, became weak and drowsy, an opportunity they used to rape the girl.
