Uyo Paramount Ruler Charges Youths to Be Obedient To Authorities To Ensure Peace, Unity And Progress

The Clan Head of Offot Ukwa and Paramount Ruler of Uyo Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Sylvanus Effiong Okon, JP has charged youths to always conduct themselves responsibly and be obedient to authorities at all levels.
The monarch, who stated this while, inaugurating the new executive members of Offot Ukwa Youth Council at his palace in Eniong Offot, Uyo on Saturday, said youths as the pillars of the society have to contribute meaningfully towards the attainment of peace, unity and progress in the society.
He congratulated the new leadership of the Offot Ukwa Youth Council headed by Prince John Udo Ekpenyong as president and urged him and members of the executive committee to work together as a team to achieve their goals and objectives as expected of them by the Offot Ukwa Clan Council.
The royal father assured members of the youth council of the support of the Offot Ukwa Clan Council, stressing that the body should pursue the collective interest of the clan at all times.
In his speech, the chairman of the Offot Ukwa Clan Council of Chiefs, Eteidung (Rev) Aniedi Edet Okon conveyed the resolution of the clan council to the youths that henceforth, they shall go by the name of Offot Ukwa Youth Council and not Offot Ukwa Youth Association.
According to Eteidung Okon, the youth council shall remain under the superintendency of the clan council while the respective youth councils at the village level shall remain under the guardianship of the village heads and their councils.
The officers inaugurated after the administration of the oath of office and oath of allegiance by Prince (Barr.) Ubong Okon were Prince John Udo Ekpenyong (Anua Obio Offot) President; Patrick Bassey Idiong (Use Atai) Vice President; Peter Akpan (Uyo Village) Secretary; Iboro Michael Inyang (Eniong Offot) Treasurer; Emmanuel Bassey Urua (Ibiaku Offot) Organizing Secretary 1; Ime Archibong Jimmy (Iboko Offot) Organizing Secretary 2; Iboro Effiong Dan (Ikot Ayan) Auditor; Imoh John Charlie (Effiat Offot) Assistant Secretary; and Eddy Raymond Usen (Use Ikot Ebio) Provost Marshall 1.

In his acceptance speech, the President, Prince John Udo Ekpenyong offered thanks to the Almighty God for His grace and enablement for them to be called to serve the clan and also appreciated the Paramount Ruler and Clan Head of Offot Ukwa, HRM Edidem Sylvanus Effiong Okon, JP and members of the clan council for the confidence reposed in them.
Prince Ekpenyong assured the royal fathers and the Offot Ukwa Clan in general that they will not disappoint them but will work assiduously to achieve their collective goals for the betterment of the area, particularly towards ensuring peace, unity and tranquillity in the society.
The ceremony was witnessed by village heads and eminent personalities from the 22 villages of Offot Ukwa Clan.
