2022 Offot Ukwa Cultural Festival Underway
…As Clan Council Appoints Former NUJ Chairman Head CPC
Preparations have started for the third edition of the epochal Offot Ukwa Festival in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
The festival, a major tourism attraction in the state, will involve all the villages in Offot Clan – the largest grouping in Uyo Local Government Area.
To ensure that the proposed event meets desired objectives, the Offot Ukwa Clan Council of Chiefs has appointed an indigene of the clan and ace media professional, Akparawa Patrick Albert, as the chairman of the Festival Central Planning Committee.
Presenting the appointment letter jointly signed by the Clan Head of Offot Ukwa and Paramount Ruler of Uyo Local Government Area, HRM Edidem Sylvanus Effiong Okon, and the secretary to the Clan Council, Eteidung David O. Etuk, stated that Akparawa Albert was overwhelmingly chosen by the clan having been found worthy in all ramifications to handle the assigned task.

At the brief ceremony, another speaker, Eteidung Ekpenyong Udoekong, expressed delight that Akparawa Albert will discharge his responsibilities effectively as a worthy son of Offot Ukwa.
In his acceptance speech, Elder Patrick Albert appreciated the clan council for considering him suitable for the task and sought for support from the clan council, stakeholders, members of the planning committee and the entire clan.
Albert, former chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council, said the festival will promote the rich cultural heritage of the clan as well as project the achievements recorded by sons and daughters of Offot Ukwa.
The event was witnessed by royal fathers and prominent sons and daughters of Offot Clan in Uyo Local Government Area.
