ADF May Seek Legal Action Against People Defaming Akpabio

Akwa Ibom Democratic Forum (ADF) has expressed sadness about the persistent hate campaign against its Grand Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and vowed to seek legal redress against those defaming the hard earned reputation of the former Akwa Ibom governor.

According to a press statement endorsed by Mr Joe Iniodu Director of Publicity, ADF for and on behalf of Akwa Ibom Democratic Forum, “This latest hate campaign is contained in a puerile, tasteless and incoherent release by a faceless group which calls itself Abak 5 Freedom Movement and signed by a phony with the name Engr. Edet Okon Ekarika, we wish to caution that the group may be forced to take legal action to save its Grand Leader from any further defamation.

The press statement stated, “The poorly written release which was supposed to clarify issues that led to the undemocratic adoption of Senator John James Akpanudoedeghe as the sole governorship candidate of APC in Akwa Ibom State and which faithful members of the party view as a recipe for the disintegration of APC in Akwa Ibom State, failed to deal with that concern. Rather it went into unbridled maligning of Senator Akpabio and Dr Jibril Tafida with blackmail and innuendos”.

ADF explained that APC is a progressive party that is committed to the observance of democratic ethos and holds the firm belief that core values are the foundation of any progressive society.

The statement further read, “The call by the group, Senator Godswill Akpabio for Common Good (SGACG) is altruistic, patriotic and in order since the intention is to save the party from internal for the overall development of the area and people implosion that may arise from the stranglehold of undemocratic tendencies.

“The narrative by perfidious persons and group targeting the hard-earned reputation of Senator Akpabio and Tafida and linking them to banditry is preposterous, malicious, evil and clearly signposts the extent the haters of Akpabio are willing to go in their infantile and futile efforts to defame these innocent persons.

“It is clear to any discerning mind that the obtuse and sickening report in that release with all the egregious falsehood is a failed attempt that cannot stand any test of veracity”.

“ADF would therefore not bother itself with a line by line or blow by blow response to the near illiterate piece that has exposed the intellectual aridity of the writer and deliberate intent to do mischief”.

“ADF would rather wish is to remind the hate campaigners that Akpabio while a governor invested in the security architecture of the State more than any other governor and that record remains unassailable.

ADF wishes to place on record that when some mischievous persons raised so much noise on the complicity of the leadership of government on some of the violent crimes, security agencies undertook thorough investigations and the outcome was the passage of a clean bill of non-complicity on Senator Akpabio. That report is at Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia as a public document.

“We further wish to state that our Grand Leader is a faithful Christian who fears God and therefore has never contemplated taking of the life of another as he has no power to give life.

“Rather he goes out of his way to save life as in the case of Mr Destiny Young which the beneficiary pronounced that Akpabio has so far spent more the NGN 25 Million. The allegation that he is sponsoring someone to eliminate Atuekong Don Etiebet whom he holds in high esteem is false, unfounded, wicked, mischievous and provocative”.

ADF pleads with their Grand Leader to continue to see the attacks as the burden of leadership and not allow them to deter him from the committed service for which he is well known.

The group also appeals to the public to ignore and discountenance the lies in that release as they bear no resemblance to Distinguished Senator Akpabio.
