The Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC) has fixed Saturday, August 28, 2027 for the conduct of local government elections across the state.
This was contained in a Notice of Election dated Friday, October 30, 2026, and signed by the Secretary of the Commission, Dr. Uduak Udoh.
According to the notice, elections will be held simultaneously in the 31 local government areas for Chairmen and Councillors in line with the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission Law 2026 and the Electoral Act 2026.
AKISIEC said nomination papers for candidates should be submitted at its headquarters at 5 Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo.
The Commission added that the notice has been published in all 31 local government council areas and 369 wards to notify residents and political parties.

It also stated that where a run-off becomes necessary, a supplementary election will hold seven days after the main election.
