Akwa Ibom State Roads and Other Infrastructure Maintenance Agency (AKROIMA) has concluded plans to begin full construction and completion of about 800m stretch of the Paul Ekpo Crescent at Shelter Afrique with double drainage system.

The chairman of the agency, Prince Godwin Ntuk Udeh, disclosed this on Tuesday in Uyo, when he led members of the AKROIMA Board to inspect internal roads at Shelter Afrique that were recently rehabilitated by the agency.
Speaking with newsmen, Prince Ntuk Udeh assured that AKROIMA would deploy all equipment to site as soon as they are returned from servicing in order to embark on the construction and completion of the road which was partly constructed earlier due to popular demand.

“His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, directed that we should not stop the overlay of the street at where the State PDP chairman’s house is located, but we should continue the actual construction of the street to the end, with drainage system on both sides. By God’s grace, we have been able to exercise that mandate from the beginning of the Obong Paul Ekpo Crescent to this level for now.

“Any moment from now, AKROIMA is coming back to continue the construction to the end of the street, and then effectively pull out the black earth, refill it with the necessary laterite with stone-base and asphalt it completely to give it a befitting look in honour of the name of the personality that the street is credited to, as directed by His Excellency, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel,” the AKROIMA boss explained.

The AKROIMA team, which inspected the complete overlay carried out on the Hogan Akpan Ekpo Avenue, expressed satisfaction at the job done by the engineers with professional speed bumps. He expressed optimism that with the quality and thickness of asphalt applied on the road, the re-emergence of potholes on it would be a thing of the past, and it would provide a good driving experience to motorists and add value to the functional and effective discharge of duties by the Police, whose station is situated on the Hogan Akpan Ekpo Avenue.

Prince Ntuk Udeh used the occasion to extol Governor Emmanuel for his giant strides within his five years in office. He assured of AKROIMA’s resolve under his (Ntuk Udeh’s) watch to ensure that the governor’s Completion Agenda, as long as it concerns the contributions of AKROIMA, will never be left in doubt.

He thanked the team of engineers, plant operators and other hands in the agency for working tirelessly to deliver on their assignments to better the comfort and welfare of humanity.

He appreciated members of the AKROIMA Board for their keen supervision of the work to ensure success and prayed God to bless them.
Prince Ntuk Udeh pointed out that AKROIMA has not failed in its duties; and further expressed the agency’s readiness to be up to its responsibilities to deliver on the mandate of sustainable development, infrastructural upgrading and maintenance to Akwa Ibom people.
