Akwa Ibom Govt Allays Fears Of COVID Spread At Carol Service
The Akwa Ibom State Government has doused fears of a possible spread of the dreaded Coronavirus disease at the forthcoming Akwa Ibom State Christmas Carol Service.
Briefing newsmen at the press centre of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council, Uyo, the duo of the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Barr. Ini Ememobong, and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Affairs, Mr Raphael Edem, gave insight into plans to safeguard public health at the event scheduled for Friday, December 17, 2021, at the 55,000-square metre Ibom Hall Arena by 6pm.
The duo while reacting to a question from a journalist, assured that all Covid protocols shall be observed at the event.
They revealed that attendees will compulsorily pass through disinfection booths before being allowed entry into the event ground.

They said also stated that hand washing stations have also been installed at the venue in compliance with Covid protocols.
Prospective attendees were also informed that proper use of nose masks shall be strictly enforced.
Earlier, it was confirmed that the Senior Pastor of The Potter’s House Church, United States of America, Bishop Thomas D. Jakes and the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye would minister the gospel at the event.

According to the text of the briefing read by the Information Commissioner, “the theme for the 2021 Carols Festival is “THE RETURN” and is drawn from the the bible verse of Isaiah 51:11 (KJV), “Therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.”
The statement further reads that “the 2021 Festival will feature a predominantly Nigerian line up of renowned gospel music ministers including the legendary Panam Percy Paul, and other award winning gospel singers like Tim Godfrey, Dunsin Oyekan, Ada Ehi, Aity Dennis, Bobby Friga, David G, Ema Onyx, GUC, Progress Effiong, John Bassey, Patience Ekwere, Uduakobong Akpan Jnr etc.”
“The choirs performing at this year’s edition include the globally recognized World Record Mass Choir of the Akwa Ibom Christmas Carols Festival. The World Record Mass Choir in this edition will feature 5,000 out of the 25,000-strong choir. Other choir groups that will perform this year are the host choir, the Akwa Ibom State Government Choir, The Promised-Land Chorale Int’l, Intenxity and the Ibom Orchestra.
“Another special appearance and the only non-Nigerian performer will be the multi-award winning South African DJ and musician, Master KG,” the statement added.
