The 32nd Akwa Ibom State Police Commissioner, CP Waheed Ayilara has visited Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Council in line with his statewide tour.
Speaking shortly on arrival at the headquarters in Nung Udoe, Tuesday, June 25, 2024, CP Ayilara said he was in the local government area to see officers and men of the Police Command and also pay familiarisation visit to the Chairman of the council to strengthen synergy with the council.
Mr Ayilara appreciated the transition chairman for collaborating with the police to make the Ibesikpo Asutan peaceful and habitable.
“I am here in Ibesikpo Asutan to see my people and equally see you, and I must thank you and your people for accommodating us on your land. I learnt where we are is owned by Ibesikpo Asutan.
“Policing is grassroots and for us to achieve our aims and as we all know Akwa Ibom State is the most peaceful state in Nigeria, all hands must be on deck in making sure this status quo is maintained,” he enjoined.
“Police cannot do it alone, and I want to really appreciate you so much for your unwavering work in complimenting the efforts of the Police.
“Thank you for the synergy but as Oliver Twist would say, we need more of the synergy from the council, the traditional institution, the youths and others to make it easy for us,” he added.
Speaking further, Commissioner Ayilara explained the critical role of synergy at the grassroots in combating crime and other social vices in our community and the society at large.
Welcoming the Commissioner of Police and his team into the council, the Chairman of the Transition Committee of Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, Hon. (Mrs) Akon Michael Asuquo expressed delight to the no 1 state Police officer for coming to Ibesikpo Asutan.
Recounting the harmonious relationship that has existed between the council and the Nigeria Police, the Council boss thanked and appreciated the officers and men of Ibesikpo Asutan Division for maintaining peace and order in the area.
She re-affirmed the council’s readiness to continuously support the Police to sustain a safe and crime-free local government area that Ibesikpo Asutan is known for.
In her words “My Commissioner Sir, from your profile read by the state PPRO, Timfon John, it’s clear that you’re not a visitor in Ibesikpo Asutan, but an indigene, hence you’re one of us.
“By God’s grace and the unflinching support of your officers and men here in Ibesikpo Asutan. As a local government, we are doing our best and continue doing it to sustain the safe and crime-free local government that we are noted for”.
The Ibesikpo Asutan Council boss used the meeting to thank officers and men of the Ibesikpo Asutan Divisional Police for their untiring efforts in making sure the local government is peaceful while assuring them of the council’s continued support to ensure peace and security in the area.

Marshall Etim, PCRC Chairman, Ibesikpo Asutan division, village head, among others.
