As a soccer enthusiast, lover and keen follower of strides recorded over the years by the Akwa Ibom State darling team, I wish to challenge the Management and players of Akwa United to target the league as the season is set to begin.
It is however gladdening and commendable that 15 new players have been signed to boost the team; but the new signings shall mean nothing if the team plays second fiddle in the coming season.
To achieve this, it is my personal opinion that the new Coach, Obuh and his assistant, should be given freehand and space to bring his technical prowess to bear in packaging the team to be highly competitive and result-oriented.
Besides, salaries and match bonuses, training equipment must be provided in time as well as ensuring that the team bus is always in good shape. It goes beyond boasts!
Let me also thank Crystal Express for their quality paper and professional reportage of the State’s team. The new season is set to begin!
