An Eventful Obeisance And Embrace Of Love
A scintillating atmosphere erupted at Ikot Ekpene Udo, a serene community in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom, the home of the State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.
Governor Eno had played host to ‘who is who’ and groups from all parts of Akwa Ibom State and beyond on that day, usually marked as Boxing Day.
At the event, the arrival of Oku Ibom Ibibio, Patriarch of the Ibibios Worldwide, as well as the President General of Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, His Eminence, Ntenyin (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk, JP, CFR, brought electrifying joy to the dignitaries and mammoth crowd.
Obeisance was quickly observed as the sound of the traditional instrument played by a traditional ruler ushered Oku Ibom Ibibio to his seat. Chants of “Yak itoñg uwêm osóng Oku Ibóm Ibibio” repeated thrice and chorused at the end with “Yak odó ntoró ke nsiñsi” filled the air.
It was delightful to see the warm exchange of pleasantries between the Akwa Ibom premier royal father and the immediate past state governor, His Excellency, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, CON.

The ex-governor, Mr. Emmanuel, undoubtedly enjoys immeasurable fatherly love and respect from the Oku Ibom Ibibio and traditional rulers in the state. The reason is not far-fetched. He had paid premium attention to the welfare of royal fathers in the state.
Also, his administration built a state-of-the-art Traditional Rulers Council Complex and a lodge for the President General along Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo, within the vicinity of the Government House/Governor’s Office. His administration also built a state-of-the-art Asan Ibibio Complex at Ikot Oku Ikono, Uyo.
It was with such fond memories that His Eminence, Ntenyin (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk, JP, CFR, gave the former governor a fatherly embrace after he had paid obeisance to him.
It was indeed something to remember!
