ANPA Rates Urue Offong/Oruko Council Chairman High During Media Tour

The Amalgamated Newspaper Publishers Association (ANPA), Akwa Ibom State, has commended the Chairman of Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Area, Rt Hon. (Amb.) Chief Uno Etim Uno, for his outstanding achievements in office.

The President of ANPA, Pastor Osuini-Abasi Alfred, stated this when he led other publishers on a media evaluation tour of the local government area on Monday, September 29, 2025.

Pastor Alfred acknowledged the transformative projects under Rt Hon. Uno’s administration, which have significantly uplifted the image of the local government area. “The Council’s progress is evident from its entrance gate to its impactful initiatives,” Alfred noted.

Speaking also, a former NUJ State Chairman, Elder Patrick Albert, praised the Chairman’s leadership, stressing how his experience as a former member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and Commissioner in the State Executive Council has driven remarkable development for the council and the people.

Comrade Nsibiet John, Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council, described Rt Hon. Uno as a “shining ambassador” of Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda, while Comrade Amos Etuk, immediate past NUJ State Chairman, lauded him for his good interpretation of the ARISE Agenda of Governor Umo Eno (PhD) at the local government level, through projects.

In his response, Rt Hon. Uno Etim Uno announced plans to create 100 millionaires as part of his administration’s first anniversary, acknowledging the support of the Urue Offong/Oruko people and other stakeholders, including the media.

Also speaking, Hon. Charles Emene, Supervisor for Education, Information, and Social Re-orientation, outlined key achievements of the administration to include:

*Distribution of 200 free JAMB forms and organisation of free JAMB classes and CBT training for indigenes of the Local Government Area.

*Offering of 30 university scholarships and N200,000 grants to law students.

*Grading of internal roads, including Okossi Udung Anwana to Ikpe village, and construction of modern teachers’ quarters with solar power and water supply.

*Resuscitation of water projects in Ukuda, Elei, and Eyobiasang communities

*Acquiring 3.5 hectares of land for a proposed stadium project and an oil palm plantation.

*Connecting the legislative block to the national grid and

*Providing financial assistance of over N10 million monthly to residents.

According to him, the administration also maintains strong ties with security operatives, traditional rulers, and youth leaders, all of whom are on its monthly payroll.

He added that the administration has aligned with the APC, with the Chairman as the political leader of the local government area.

The event was attended by the Vice Chairman of the council, Hon. (Mrs) Arit Ambit, JP, councillors, supervisors and a myriad of media practitioners.
