ARISE Agenda Will Accelerate A’Ibom Development – Eteidung Edem

The village head-elect of Nung Oku Ibesikpo Village in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, Eteidung (Pastor) Anietie Okon Edem has expressed confidence that the Arise Agenda of Governor Umo Eno will accelerate the rate of development in Akwa Ibom State.

Eteidung Edem said from a critical assessment of the Arise Agenda after its official lunch at the Akwa Ibom Dialogue held recently at Ibom Icon and Golf Resort, Uyo, it was very obvious that the administration of Governor Eno was mission-driven to bring impactful development to the 31 Local Government Areas of the State.

The village head-elect reiterated that as host of several State and Federal government projects, including Akwa Ibom International Worship Centre, Ibom 21 Storey Smart Building, Federal Government Incubation Centre, State Motor Park, Nung Oku Roundabout, Ring Road, among others, the community remains fully supportive of the Arise Agenda of Pastor Eno as all parts of the State stands to benefit immensely from it.

On the challenges faced by the Village, Eteidung Edem called on the government to provide a perimeter fence at St. Athanasius Primary School, Nung Oku Ibesikpo as done in other schools within the capital city, to halt the spate of stealing and vandalization of school property by hoodlums.

Besides, he said the school was facing incessant flooding and called on the state government to desilt nearby drains to halt the environmental challenges at the institution and its environs.

He also appealed to Governor Eno to provide the thickly populated community with a functional Health Centre, which is currently used in a rented apartment.

“As a thickly populated community within the capital city, we need a government health centre. The one we have now is in a rented apartment and harbours other businesses which are not conducive, especially for handling maternity and child care services,” he added.

Eteidung Edem urged the state government to look into the undeveloped land acquired for a residential estate for serving and retired senior military and police officers within the community as the thick bush has become a den for criminals.

“Some time ago, the State government acquired a sizeable land in our community for the development of Estate for serving and retired senior military and police officers. Unfortunately, the estate is yet to come to fruition. Criminal elements have taken advantage of using the land as operational bases. We appeal to Governor Umo Eno to look into this for the interest of the public,” he explained.

He further raised an alarm that despite the State government ban on waste scavengers, the operators are still actively in business and have raised a dump site near the State Government Motor Park at Nung Oku Ibesikpo and have resisted all entreaties to quiet the area.

Eteidung Edem appealed to the “State Government to take action on this by building the earmarked market as slated for the location to checkmate its illegal conversion into other unwanted activities.”

He congratulated the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Frank Archibong and the Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Nsikan Linus Nkan for their re-appointments into the State Executive Council and thanked Governor Umo Eno for the confidence reposed in them.
