The body under the auspices of Unified Non-Indigenes Association of Nigeria, cut across both Christian and Muslim faithful living in the state.

At the one week of prayers organized by the body which was rounded off by Christians on Sunday and Muslims on Friday, prayers were also offered for peace and development in Bayelsa State.

Speaking after the prayer session on Monday in Yenagoa, the director-general of the group, Chief Chinedu Arthur-Ugwa, said they were moved by the zeal to support the prosperity government championed by Governor Diri to succeed.

He said the group aims to unite the non-indigenes in the state and build bridges of unity, peace and stability among different ethnic groups living in the state.

He said: “Though we are from different states in Nigeria, we are one people created by God. Though we speak different languages, we are all working for prosperity and unity of Nigeria.

“That is why we call on the Bayelsa government to create a community for non-indigenes to help us feel at home and relate to one another,” he said.
